Florence Dance Fair, don’t miss it!!
Florence is not only the cradle of the Renaissance, part of its beauty is to be able to be kaleidoscopic and splendid in every event or season. There is no dress that does not fit it or… no shoe.
From 21st to 24th February 2019, the XIV edition of Danzainfiera will be staged at the Fortezza da Basso. The event, year after year, manages to attract and conquer dancers from all over the world thanks to an organization that allows them to perform, confront and get to know each other facing in different styles and disciplines.
The four days will see hundreds of lessons and internships chaired by internationally renowned masters, dozens of different genres and auditions of prestigious schools from all over the world, many premieres, various reviews of all styles of dance, and international guests and exhibitors.
Every day it will be possible to practice dance at every age and level, from classic to contemporary passing through flamenco and tap. Among the influences and innovations to be noted, you will find the Danza in Fascia, the Bhangra, the Bollywood Dance, the American Tribal Style, the Flagging dance, the Sambatewado, the Belly Burlesque and the Stretching & Flexibility.
Saturday, February 23 at 5pm will be the turn of the big ballet stars to shine. Lucia Lacarra and Hosué Ullate will perform an excerpt from Victor Ullate’s La Carmen, Evgenia Obraztsova (first dancer of the Bolshoi Theater) will perform a variation of Petipa’s Talisman. El Junco will also be on stage and again Rada Waackengers, the queen of Waacking, and Christiane Matallo, accompanied by percussionist Jim Hamilton. While the Latin dances will have as protagonists Cristian Priori and Dasha Loginova.
The leitmotiv of this edition of Danzainfiera will be #storiedidanza (#dancestories). A campaign that, through video, tells the everyday’s life of those who love dance at 360°: from North to South of Italy, dancers of every style and professionals, stage and backstage protagonists, have been filmed, photographed and interviewed . To celebrate the art in movement, the event also hosts the Accademia delle belle arti in Florence for an artistic project that sees the dance as only protagonist: 25 works created with 880 ballet slippers will be on display at the Fortezza da Basso. The students of the first, second and third year of the three-year course of decoration will compete in an ArtContest that tests creativity and dexterity, stimulating the spirit of re-use.
