Chestnut Festival
From 9th to 11th November – Cetica (AR)
Travel back in time with this festival: wakes with stories and popular novellas, watch historical reconstructions of picking of chestnuts and tastings of dishes made with “pane d’albero”.
Chestnuts Festival of Fosciandora
Sunday 11th November – Fosciandora (LU)
The event starts in the morning with refreshment stands where you can taste chestnut’s recipes: “necci”, “castagnaccio”, fritters and other dishes with chestnut flour. There will be representations of past’s crafts with photos and old tools.
Chestnuts Festival of Ponte Serravalle
Sunday 18th November – Ponte Serravalle Pistoiese
Festival in remembrance of 35 mills on Nievole river. Serravalle Pistoiese offers tastings of the best chestnuts dishes: ballotti, frugiate, necci, castagnaccio and chestnut mush.
“Bruschetta” and Chestnuts
Sunday 25th November – Cortona (AR)
Unique country festival which combines the taste of Bruschetta (toasted slice of bread) with oil from Cortona, chestnuts and live music.
“Baldino” and sweet mush festival
Saturday 8th December – Faltona (AR)
“Baldino” or “Castagnaccio” is a typical sweet of Casentino made with chestnuts flour enriched with pine nuts, raisin and nuts. The festival offers tastings of this cake, of sweet mush, ricotta cheese and fritters. Moreover there’ll be honey, cheese, chestnut jam and apples.
