Florence walking tours: special winter project
Florence is universally known as one of the most beautiful cities of the world: art and nature meet and mix like in no other place, giving a unique charm to the cradle of renaissance. The Municipality wants to promote this side of the town with a special project, “Florence the walking city”, which draw up citizens, kids and adults, and visitors to nature and to the hidden beauty of Florence.
The project include 18 paths on 97 kilometres of ground, from north to south, from east to west, along the Arno River and upon the characteristic Tuscan hills: walk for feeling good and to discover the beauty of the country. The paths are divided in to 7 basic routes and 11 linked routes, each with a specific length, slope and degree of difficulty. Moreover the paths are circular and crossed with the others. You’ll be able to walk through different territories, with defined stories and characteristics; well-known places and others less known, landscapes full of art, of faith and culture.
Among the paths we suggest you:
“A monte dell’Arno” – 2nd December 2012.
A route of environment and landscape interest which go along both Arno’s sides, through San Niccolò and Varlungo bridges. The path goes through gardens and parks, between plain and hills. Do not miss the amazing landscapes on the hillocks and the historical centre of the city.
“A valle sull’Arno” – 4th December 2012.
A route of historical and environment interest which snakes on Florence’s valley on right side of Arno River, between Ponte all’Indiano and Ponte alla Vittoria though two huge parks: the historical one called “delle Càscine” and the new one called “dell’Argingrosso”. It’s an easy path, entirely on plain.
This project makes Florence even more unique: you can stay in one of the city hotels and choose your path, to walk with family discovering enchanted views or as a tourist, to discover the richness and complexity of the art heritage of the cradle of renaissance.
