Da Vinci’s fifth centenary celebrations starts in advance
In 2019 will fall the fifth centenary of Leonardo Da Vinci’s death and all over the world are being organized festivals and exhibitions to commemorate the Genius beloved memory.
The town of Florence decided to start the commemorations in advance and yet from 2018 in the Uffizi Gallery will take place the exhibition “Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Leicester. Water as a Microscope of Nature”
This is really a not to be missed opportunity for the enthusiasts because, during the exhibition, it will be exposed the only Leonardo’s Codex that belongs to a Private owner. The Codex Leicester also known as Codex Hammer was bought in 1994, for over 30 million dollars, by the billionaire Bill Gates. The codex hasn’t been in Florence since 1982 and it was The Microsoft founder himself that decided to offer these pages to the town, so that everyone could enjoy them.
The exhibit’s core will be the 72 pages of notes amd drawings in wich Leonardo explains his studies on the fluids motion, but it will also include a multimedia support with wich the visitors will be able to read the pages and their transcription and to have access to additional informations about the subject in object.
The exhibition is organized by the Uffizi Gallery and the Galileo Museum with the participation of Fondazione CR Firenze and will be accessible until the 20th of January 2019.
