The tradicional Florentine crafts: Piumaccio d’Oro
Piumaccio d’Oro is a shop in the district of San Frediano, specialized in restoring and polisching antique furniture and it was opened in 1941 by Emilio Malenotti. He soon acquired the nikname “Piumaccio d’Oro”, the “rubber” made of wadding and line used to polish furniture with methlyated spirits and shellac. Emilio was also known as naif painter.
The busuines was passed down to his nephew, roberto and it is currently manages by his sons, Riccardo and massimo who restore antique furniture with the same skill and mastery.
The vast knowledge of ancient techniques for furniture production has meant that alongside the traditional activities of restorers was born also the creators of the unusual patterns of extraordinary pieces of antique furniture. Little masterpieces that sum up centuries of tradition of craftsmanship and creativity.
The Pimaccio d’Oro shop offers more than a well equipped conservation laboratory and production scale models also sell furniture and antiques. The shop offers a selection of antique furniture that are the result of experience gained over the years.
