Florence art – I Magnifici Tre: jewel-books of Lorenzo De’ Medici
Florence is reconfirmed as source of beauties and cradle of art, as it will host a unique exhibition until 20th October 2012: “Magnifici tre, jewel-books of Lorenzo de’ Medici”. These illuminated codes, ordered by Lorenzo the Magnificent for his daughters, are masterpieces of Renaissance, and they’ll be showed for the first time after five centuries.
The three books ordered by The Magnificent as gift to his daughters Lucrezia, Luisa and Maddalena are extraordinary as paintings and precious as jewels, finely decorated with gold, silver and gemstones. The view of these manuscripts, jealously kept by 3 different libraries (Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana of Florence, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek of Monaco and Rothschild Collection of Waddesdon Manor, England) will be the end of a path through the beauties of the books. Besides the original codes the exhibition will host more than sixty reproductions of illuminated pages, ordered by theme.
