Exclusive opening of Santa Apollonia, free guided tour
As the Autumn openings were a great success of tourists, but also of many Florentines who have rediscovered the Convent of Santa Apollonia. Here, then, a new special openings cycle, with free guided tours organized by the staff of the San Marco Museum.
The Refectory, today a state museum, preserves the great fresco of the “Last Supper” , masterpiece of Andrea del Castagno. Monumental, enigmatic, powerful and poetic at the same time, painted in 1447 for the refectory of the female Monastery of St. Apollonia it is considered the first Last Supper of Renaissance.
In the months of March, April, May and June 2017 the Convent of Santa Apollonia will be extraordinarily open Wednesday afternoon , from 15.00 to 17.00 , according to the following schedule:
1 – 8 – 15 – 22 to 29 March
April 5
17 – May 24 to 31
7 – June 14 to 21
At 16:00 take place a free guided tour organized by the staff of the San Marco Museum .
The Refectory is located in Florence, Via XXVII Aprile 1 between San Marco Square and Indipendenza Square.
