Artigianato & Palazzo: the tradition in Florence
As every year, the traditional exhibition Artigianato & Palazzo (literally Craft & Palace) returns to Florence, from 12th to 15th May 2016. The XXII edition of the event created by Neri Torrigiani and promoted by Princess Giorgiana Corsini will be held in the namesake Corsini Garden. The purpose that this event arises is the same since 1995: re-evaluate the figure of the artisans and craft’s traditions today as an expression of quality and technique. To hold high the banner of old crafts, there will be 100 craftsmen from Florence, Italy and Europe and the categories in which they will be shared will be:
- Home & Garden;
- Design & Objects;
- Art & Decoration;
- Fragrances & Essences;
- Fashion & Textiles;
- Accessories;
- Gold & jewelery;
- Fine Foods.
The event, which in 2015 recorded 9000 visitors, this year will have as its main theme the water connecting to the sad anniversary of 50th year from the flood that hit Florence in 1966. From 10 am to 8 pm, for four days, you can not only see the manual work of the artists but also take part in the jury of the Premio Perseo (Perseo awards), where the public will vote, via evaluation board, the favorite craftsman.
The craftsmen themselves, however, are competing for the Prize of the organizing committee who sees the organizing committee to judge the most beautiful and interesting stand. To not be missed is definitely the Mostra Principe that illustrates the creative path of an important commercial reality linked to the craft world in order to serve as incentive for other exhibitors. Finally, give youth a chance with the 3rd edition of blogs & crafts that combine technology and handmade starring 10 craftsmen under 35 years old in their exclusive exhibition area and 10 bloggers in order to portray the five days full of creativity. Space also to the cuisine and good food with Ricette di famiglia (Family recipes) to discover culinary traditions with established food writers.
