“Walkingabout” fashion. Today starts Pitti’s week in Florence
This Pitti Uomo edition (from 13th to 16th January at Fortezza da Basso) is entitled “Walkabout”: walking just for the pleasure of doing it, to see, think about and savor the world alone or with friends. Walking for sport or because walking, or talking about, is the “in” thing.
At the Florentine kermesse we’ll discover an urban gentlemen that loves walking, we’ll see the 2015/2016 fall-winter collection of more than 1.100 brand. We’ll see a chic and casual man, because today, more than ever before, walking is an expression of a way of life, it even evokes its outfits. Walkabout Pitti is a hymn to multipole technical facets, clothing styles and their uses and to the central role of accessories.
To celebrate the theme, Cuoio di Toscana and Pitti Immagine created a special installation “Words of Walking”. Visitors will find an artistic collection of famous phrases and words inspired to the walking concept, from Hippocrate to Pasolini, from Confucius to Hermann Hesse. Other areas will be transformed into fitness corners thanks to the project “Gazzetta Social Walking” (a co-operation of Gazzetta dello Sport with Technogym) that put at visitors’ disposal some tapis roulant and, for each runned km, it will give a part to Emergency.
With a record number of applications from around the world – 40% of the vendors at this edition will be coming from more than thirty countries – Pitti Uomo 87 will once again offer a unique and original view of the many links between art, fashion, sport and design.
