The City of Florence has announced its decision to remove all parking from the city’s famous piazza.

First, it was piazza del Duomo, then piazza Pitti and piazza San Firenze. On March 8, the City of Florence will make the world-renowned piazzale Michelangelo free from parking. A popular spot for wedding photos and a major tourist attraction in Florence, the square’s 200-plus car parking spaces will be removed to make way for the thousands of people who visit it all year round.
Florence councillor for mobility, Filippo Bonaccorsi, announced that parking spaces will be created in the nearby vicinity in viale Poggi and in via delle Porte Sante.
