Florence exhibition: L’amore vittorioso e altre storie
2013 will be a year full of art in Florence; it starts at its best thanks to “L’Amore Vittorioso e altre storie”, exhibition organized by Polo Museale Fiorentino, a continuation of “Restauri in Villa” which presented restoration works made in 2009 and 2010. The exhibition has two goals: to value the huge artworks’ repository of Bardini’s heritage and to emphasize the results of the works done in Cerreto Guidi.
The 2012 expositive path starts from the marvelous Amore Vittorioso by Giovanni Martinelli, revealed to public after the restoration. Martinelli was a Florentine painter active in Tuscany between 1630 and 1660 and considered one of the most representative painters of ‘600 in Florence. The painting presents itself in all its majesty: Amore appears from a sketched background and shows musical instruments, books and scientific objects, between suffused and bronzed colours and the light originated from left, which illuminate the scene with warm hues.
Another main restoration is a Dutch painting, set in a panoramic farmland filled with children and adults dedicated to the game “gioco del paretaio”, seen from an elevated point of view. The bird catching of “paretaio” was a hunting pastime well appreciated in ‘600, and this subject makes Villa Medicea of Cerreto Guidi and its Hunting Museum the perfect location for the painting.
Beyond these paintings there are many Bardini’s ceramics, totally restored and salvaged from the depository of the past collection, two wrought iron vanes and a huge section of renaissance fabrics.
