Florence exhibition: “Francis Bacon and the Existential Condition in Contemporary Art”
Until 27th January 2013 Florence will be led by great art, thanks to the exhibition “Francis Bacon and the Existential Condition in Contemporary Art”, which will take place in Palazzo Strozzi.
The exhibition offers works by many contemporary artists which explore the theme of existence in the relationship between man and community. The path starts with a group of paintings by Francis Bacon and continues with works by five contemporary international artists (Nathalie Djurberg, Adrian Ghenie, Arcangelo Sassolino, Chiharu Shiota, Annegret Soltau) which share Bacon’s reflection on man’s existential condition and on the depiction of the human figure. Bacon’s paintings on display are joints to a selection of photographic and hardcopy material from the artist’s archive: photo portraits, reproductions of masterpieces of the past, film stills and pictures from books and magazines. This material is granted by Dublin City Gallery the Hugh Lane, which acquired an authentic reconstruction of the artist’s last London workshop.
An amazing and unmissable experience, dedicated to contemporary art’s lovers: if you want to take part to this path of knowledge, book a room in Florence’s center with Ars Hotels chain.
