What to visit in Florence: International gothic exhibition at Uffizi Gallery
Uffizi Gallery introduces one of the most important exhibitions dedicated to the International Gothic: until 4th November 2012 it will host “Golden Glares”, an amazing exhibit that offers an overview of Florentine Art during the crucial period from 1375 to 1440.
To recall the atmosphere that has characterized this long artistic season, together with famous artworks celebrated for centuries will be also shown other valuable works little-known to the general public: paintings, wooden and marble sculptures, manuscripts and works of religious and profane art from Italian and foreign museums as well as from private collections.
The exhibition will retrace this artistic movement chronologically and you will able to admire works by the most representative artists of the International Gothic style: Agnolo Gaddi, Spinello Aretino, Antonio Veneziano, Gherardo Starnina, Lorenzo Monaco and Beato Angelico. The exposition path will end with The Battle of San Romano by Paolo Uccello, shown to the public for the first time after the restoration: a great representation and synthesis of the intellectual and spiritual complexity of a unique Era of Florentine Art.
